Our Maui
Experience
December 20, 2001
We staggered out of bed at 4:00AM
this day, to get to Kahului in time to catch a little 6 passenger
plane to Molokai. It was
the first time for us in a plane this small, where the pilot himself
checked us in, helped us with our luggage, and led us out to the
plane, where he helped us board. Visit our
Molokai Site to read
about that portion of our trip.
The pilot was late arriving to pick
us up from Molokai, which made us late getting back to Maui. We
raced to B&B to pick up our Advanced Open Water cards, and log books.
The traffic through Kihei was awful, and it took us nearly an hour.
We turned around and sped back to Lahaina, changing clothes while
driving, where we were 1/2 hour late to the Old Lahaina Luau,
thanks to the pilot. We missed the photo opportunities, and the
roasting pig, but the hula dancing was entertaining, and there was
plenty of food and drink left. The show lasted for 2 1/2 hours,
and we were stuffed. We did manage to capture a bit of
bootleg Luau video, however.
The following morning, we would fly
to the Big Island of Hawaii...
