Ever been brushing through thick
underbrush, only to hear that "crunch" as your machete hits a
basketball-sized hornets nest? Ever come around a bend to stand
face-to-face with a grizzly? After bolting out of the woods and
racing for the nearest shelter, you still have to go back in and set
or tie that monument! Don't go in empty-handed!
You just never know when you might
slice that hand open with your machete, or rip that leg on a barbed
wire fence. What if you get stung by a bee or bit by a snake?
Make sure you have what you need. A wimpy backpacker first-aid
kit just won't suffice when you're miles from the nearest hospital and
you're out there every day.
I think we've all been up a creek
without a paddle in this regard a few times (or more). Make sure
you don't lose billable hours due to vehicle failure, or being stuck
in the mud!
Nothing is worse than sending a crew
out to a remote jobsite without some essential education.
Keep that morale up, and have some laughs along the way!
