I am a
native of Washington state,
born in Everett and living in Vancouver
(across the Columbia River from Portland,
Oregon) for most of my life. Sandra came to
Vancouver
as an exchange student to attend school,
where we met, fell in love, and married. We talk of moving to a
new place, a fresh start where we can experience a different way of
living, perhaps
even returning to Sweden, but time
and time again, we are swept away by the beauty and majestic scenery of
the Pacific Northwest. We have traveled through the entire western
United States, and parts of
Mexico,
Canada, and
Europe, but with each trip we only
appreciate where we live more. We have now visited the eastern
United States and seen much of
the Midwest and east from the air, but as we pull back in to
Portland International Airport and the lush forests and snow-capped
peaks of the Cascade Range dominate the landscape, together with the Columbia
River flowing through the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area, and the soft
tickle of drizzle on the airplane window, we melt inside with the joy
we feel of waking up each morning to the crisp mist of the fresh air of
the Northwest.
Not only does the
Pacific Northwest offer a great place to live, but it also allows one
to explore and participate in various Sports and
Recreation. Snowboarding and skiing, wind-surfing, hiking and
backpacking, mountaineering, kite-surfing, golfing, and mountain
biking, are among many activities that are possible to do in this
area. The Pacific Northwest is one of the few parts of the
country that always has vigorous growth, largely because people
visit once and then never want to leave. You might be getting
the impression that we like it in the Northwest, or?
On this
portion of the site, you will find information about our home state of
Washington and our neighbors
across the river to the South, Oregon,
and photographs of us enjoying our environment and scenic landscape.
